Ok, hello to anyone who actually decides to read this. I am Miss Flashheart, a university student who has a penchant for all things of a geeky nature. I study media and music technology, and I've decided to make a blog to help me get some practice for the job which I wish to do when I finally leave university - journalism.

Not just any journalism though, god no, I don't want to be a hack for something like the Daily Mail (a stupid rag that has no sense of reality and only gets readers by sensationalising everything, even when it is totally bogus). I'd personally love to work for a magazine, specifically music or video games, or if there is a UK based anime and manga magazine out there (with those subjects as their main focus, not just as a side feature) then that would be brilliant to work for too.

But enough about me and what I want to do for my future. This is an anime blog, so I might as well get started on the subject matter at hand. I've probably watched a lot of anime in my time, however, my addiction only started about a year and a half ago, when my friends from the RPG society at university got me interested in anime. Since then I've been unable to stop watching the stuff, and have in my time amassed over two weeks of my life to watching anime, which isn't bad really.

My personal favourite anime of all time is Azumanga Daioh, which was the first anime that I ever saw in full. I mean, I'd seen things like Tenchi Muyo and Cowboy Bebop round at a friend's house before, but I never decided to follow it up. However, Azumanga just captured me in a way that those two shows never did.
As it's a slice-of-life anime, it was just like looking into their lives and seeing something rather wonderful in there. It's also probably why I like shows like Lucky Star, Minami-ke and Hidamari Sketch too, because they're in the same style, but nothing has really compared to Azumanga in my eyes.

I also like a bit of romance in my life (not much, but it's there) so I liked watching shows like Ouran High School Host Club, Fruits Basket and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (aka The Wallflower). The reverse harem genre is one of my personal favourites that is in anime, however, I do also like regular harem animes like Shuffle!, Sekirei and Negima.

Another genre that I love is the mystery genre. Things like Detective Conan and Kindaichi are my favourites from this genre, but I like other ones like Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro and Yakushiji Ryoko No Kaiki Jikenbo. I love the idea of trying to find out who done it before it gets revealed, it gives me such a thrill ^_^.

Finally, a personal thing that I like to watch is yaoi/shounen-ai. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those rabid fangirls that likes to go to conventions with a yaoi paddle (I haven't even been to a convention, but I'd love to go, at least once) and slashes every single man that I see in an anime with another one. I just like reading the manga and watching the anime that comes out, and leaving it at that.
From this genre, I've liked shows like Junjou Romantica (I can't wait for the second half of that to come out), Gakuen Heaven, Boku No Sexual Harrassment (I love what they did in AMV Hell 0 with that anime, by the way, classic stuff) and Antique Bakery. I'd love to see more of this genre, and I probably will in years to come.

Obviously, I am watching anime at this time as well, and sooner or later, I will start my criticism of the animes that I have recently finished or possibly am in the middle of. But for now, I might as well tell you all what animes I am watching so that you can get an idea of what shows will be coming up as topics of conversation in the next few weeks:

Hidamari Sketch x 365
Antique Bakery
Sekirei
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
Yakushiji Ryoko No Kaiki Jikenbo
Detective Conan
Monochrome Factor
and Shugo Chara.

Thank you for reading this if you have, and I hope to see you soon with more anime talk. Also, please give me some comments about this blog, preferably some constructive criticism as to how this blog should be formatted. Do you like it the way it is now or would you prefer it to be changed in some way? All viewpoints are welcome (just don't be too rude about it ;) ) and will be considered.

Yours,

Miss Flashheart
